How do I connect to the internet with my psp?

I just bought a psp and wanted to know how to connect to the internet. I have wireless internet already from time warner and tried connecting to the internet with my psp but it didn’t work. All it tells me is, “a connection error has occurred. The attempt to obtain the IP address timed out.” What can I do?

reset the router
enable dhcp
disable mac addressing or add the mac address
disable encryption for troubleshooting.

make sure the router is plugged in
get really close and try it again
if it has less than 50% signal strenth it does that
