What do the images of frogs, leaves, etc. mean in “Fringe”?
December 21, 2009
When the TV show “Fringe” cuts to commercial, it first shows an image set against a black background with yellow lights. There’s been a frog, a leaf with an equilateral triangle in it, an apple with a fetus for seeds, etc.
I thought it was maybe linked to a sort of viral marketing campaign, but I can’t find what the actual inspirations are for these images.

It means that they went to far in ripping off the X-Files! That reminds me of the opening credits of the X-Files without the music. the entire show is based on the X-Files.

it shows the weird things in everyday life
One of many marketing posters used to promote the series featuring a twist on a common image. Pictured is a leaf with an embedded isosceles triangle and like a feotus in the apple pips

The show’s creatoes JJ Abrams specifically said that they were leaving clues all over the episodes for different things. There are all kinds of crazy speculations. You can find zillions of them on the web. One thing is for sure, they are not just every day items with odd things on them. They all seem to have mathematical aspects. Most of them seem to have a reference to the Fibonacci sequence, which is in and of itself complicated and elegant.
Please see:
for a nice list, without the messy discussions.
