I would like to know how effective, internet marketing is eg: if you have paid to have a banner on a website, or had your site optimised to appear on the first page of search engine. How has the following worked for you

Banner ads/optimisation = how much more traffic on your website = How much more calls you have recieved and business gained?

i would like to know what your experience has been and if it has been worthwhile.

I was wondering if it was known how much traffic a commercial website must have (per-day, per-month, etc) for companies to become interested in advertising on that website. I read a very good book called The Tipping Point which has a lot to do with viral marketing. I have a site and I would like to growth its traffic through viral marketing. Any ideas on what tactics I could use to do this. E.g. the milliondollarhome page. the site is http://www.4southafricatours.com

Well I am interested in maybe trying out affiliate marketing but Have a few questions.
1- What is a good company to provide ads with a decent payout that also PAYS you. please note I am 16 so if you have to be 18 I cannot do it also I am not going to give out my ssn online[i understand this is for tax purposes but, im not giving that imformation to ANYONE on the internet is there a way I can do the taxes myself?]
2- Can you make about as much as a part time job? I have a confusing schedule with divorced parents so affiliate marketing is the best option for me to have a type of “job” i understand it probably won’t make as much but, i’m hoping it comes to about as much as a part time job…
3- Can you use blogspot for affiliate marketing? [without using adsense as you have to be 18 to use adsense] by “can you use” i mean is it against blogspots terms and conditions?
4- do you have any tips on getting me started

also i do not have a website currently and would not like to pay for one which is why i asked about blogspot. I was thinking about possibly creating a website discussing tech stuff.[its not copyright infringment to say like "the game *game name here* is good for blah blah blah but bad for blah blah blah"
is it?] but since i’m starting out im not going to have a big audience so tips on getting traffic would also be useful [and also the affiliate program cannot require a certain amount of page views] ALSO i have no paypal and would like to be payed by check through mail.

Soooo…..how does one come up with a viral marketing campaign for a website…..just try to get creative on your own, or are there training sites out there for this sort of thing? Someone told me recently that viral marketing was vital to getting any real traffic to your site…..I am definitely NOT a marketing expert….but have a site I need to get promoted somehow, to sell my products….on a LOW BUDGET!
